As an adult, I began to fully embrace my name and my cultural heritage, rather than just a kid trying to fit in at school. I fought to love myself and be smarter than those who wanted me to be “other” as a bi-racial Love Doll. I reminded that my name is written in the English alphabet; if they couldn’t pronounce it, maybe they needed to work on their literacy. My name was mocked in both overt and covert racist ways.
